2004-01-14 - 11:15 a.m. Back from N'Awlins. Man-o-man, does that city do it up RIGHT! The locals were complaining about the weather (high 40s and a couple of days of rain while we were there), but it looked pretty DERN good, compared to the -25s that we were having in VT while we were gone. Almost every place we ate had great food, and in particular, we went to the Court of Two Sisters for a jazz brunch (all you can eat, and we did) on Saturday morning. We were there for about 2-1/2 hours, just listening to a jazz trio and snarfing some absolutely delicious foods. I forgot how great real grits are. I ate 3 servings. We also visited the famous Cafe Du Monde, at the corner of Jackson Square. Best coffee and beignets I had - if you get a chance, that is definitely on the visitation list. While Dave was busy doing biology things at the conference, I took a couple of great historic district tours, including a garden tour and went to the Charles I cemetery where Marie Laveau, the voodoo queen is buried. (They also shot 2 scenes from Easy Rider there.) We also splurged and went into a number of different clubs one night, just to listen to the music. Just amazing, the amount of talent in one place at one time. So, all in all, a great tour. I'd go back any day. Currently getting back into the swing of things here. It's brutally cold out, but we only got a few inches of snow yesterday with the front coming through. I'll post a few pics in a couple of days when I get organized and also will dig up my paella receipe for those of you who expressed an interest. (Thanks!) Stay warm y'all!!!!
