2003-10-30 - 5:10 a.m. Yesterday was a PERFECT fiber day - it poured. I had originally planned to work on some alpaca houndstooth check socks that I'm working on for the alpaca farm's store, but we had a little "issue" with Sydney the dog, who chose to use my #2 needles as toothpicks on Monday while I was out of the house clipping my oldest bunny, Newman. So, without those needles to use I decided to tackle something different. I spun up a 1-ounce sample of some lovely creamy white CVM roving I just got, and I also plied up the dark gray Romney I had been spinning on a few days ago. I got a chance to use my new plying head and flyer for my Lendrum, which is GREAT! It lets you make 1 giant skein off of 2 full regular-sized bobbins. Cool.... very cool. Then, I pulled out one of my UFOs in my ongoing quest to get some of those completed. I worked on an intarsia cardigan that was in Interweave Knits a while back... the Kandinsky Cardigan. And, with that, realized a few things..... A: The Mags Kandis 1824 cotton is really wonderful to work with. Great hand, super soft, gorgeous colors. B: I really don't care for intarsia. I hate the mess of all those ends when you are finished, but I do love this design, so it will hopefully be worth it. Pictures to come - when it is finished. Finally, to finish out the evening, I had 2 more batts to card of the gray alpaca and gray angora that I'm spinning up for the farm shop, so I did that and then got started on the spinning. Lovely stuff! Great fiber day! Happy soon-to-be Samhain to all!
