Okay: One of my biggest pet peeves is people who cannot keep their dogs under control and think it's okay to let them be aggressive. I took Sydney out for her morning walk yesterday - same route we always take - and one of the seemingly gazillion dogs that lives in a makeshift kennel at this one house (mostly collies, all major barkers) was out in the front yard. She let us walk in one direction with no problem, but when we tried to pass the second time to go home, she came tearing out of the yard into the road with teeth bared, barking, fur standing up on the back of her neck. Nobody (!) came out of the house to do anything about this. What is up with people?

Anyway, all's well in that I basically threatened her until she backed down and let us pass, but I'm thinking of walking with a big stick or a baseball bat from here on out because I do not look forward to more encounters with her unarmed while I'm trying to keep Sydney on her leash under control.

On other notes, my Interweave Knits mag came in the mail yesterday. The last page had a great editorial article on being a fiber harlot. The writer described how she has good intentions of remaining faithful to a specific fiber project, but then getting seduced by the gorgeous colors or gorgeous yarns in some other project. I made a list of the UFOs (unfinished fiber objects) that I've got going currently and was just appalled. I've gotten out a "projects" box and I'm going to have to chip away at it. So the deal is - no new projects to start (other than the ones I have contracted to get through by Thanksgiving for a fiber open house - but that will be short-term) until I get SOMETHING finished out of that box. Then, if I can finish 1 old project before starting a new one - maybe I can get rid of this UFO stash.

On a more positive note, though, yesterday afternoon, I dug out my all-but-the-finishing projects box - mostly Xmas gifts. I wove in ends on 1 knitted scarf and tied off the fringe on 3 others that I wove before the loom went into storage. I finished up my "mad bomber" hand-dyed angora hat and wore that out on our walk last night. I also finished up a really gorgeous angora/Merino cabled hat that I originally had knit as a present for my grandmother before she passed away this year - I'm undecided whether I should send it to a friend as a gift or keep it for myself. It's not really my style and my friend would look great in it.... but it DOES have a sentimental attachment at this point too. Hmm..........

Guess that's enough blithering for today. :)
