So: This is my first entry in an ongoing account of life here at our new little farm in Walden, VT. For those that know me, we just moved up here this summer to try to get our 38 acres ready for planting apple trees and adding 4-footed fiber animals to the place in the next couple of years. I'll also be posting updates on various fiber projects, as well as the going-ons of the furry beasties already living here with me (the dog, the cat, 3 angora bunnies) to say nothing of the local neighbors who have already given me enough fodder to fill 15 or 16 chapters of a book. I'll also hopefully have some photos of various things to post as I go, to keep friends and family up-to-date.

There's always lots to do here (that is an understatement). Husband Dave is out mowing the far pastures currently while we have a nice sunny (70-ish) day. The leaves are already starting to turn on the mountain, and the maples look FANTASTIC against the bright blue September sky. My current fiber project is a pair of "Vermont Fall Leaves" socks (pictures to come soon!). I'm knitting them off the basic pattern from the "Twisted Sisters" book, in variegated hand-dyed/hand-spun orange wool and mohair with red and purple stripes. Wild and funky, but fun!

We are also trying to fix on a name for the farm. I think our current best choice is "Northwind Farm". Suggestions are welcomed.

That's all for now... Back to work... more to come later.

Blessings - Anne
